MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT

North are looking to appoint an experienced maintenance assistant to help care for our multiple sites across Leeds and Harrogate. This will include our showcase taproom site, Springwell as well as our City Tap in Leeds, 3 neighbourhood bars across north Leeds, our site in Otley, our 2-story bar situated in the heart of Harrogate along with our new taprooms situated in Manchester and Birmingham. 

Since opening North Bar in 1997 we have grown into a joyful family of six bars and two taprooms. In 2015 we launched North Brewing Co: a 30bbl brewery which brews 2.8 million pints a year. 2020 saw the brewery and HQ relocate to Springwell, a 21,000 square foot site in North Leeds. This marked an ambitious period of expansion which saw us double our annual output, expand our HQ and brewing team, open a new taproom in the face of Covid and develop as leaders in employment and culture.  

The role will be based across our sites in West Yorkshire, and the successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of these sites. You will report directly to our Property Manager who will distribute tasks on a weekly basis, dependent on the requirements of our sites.  

The key to the smooth running of our brewery and bars is staying on top of decoration and maintenance, and being proactive in the upkeep of the sites: 

• Changing light bulbs and ensuring other fixtures and fittings are in good working order  

• Minor electrical works  
• Minor plumbing and carpentry  
• Clearing or cleaning general areas  
• Shifting furniture or equipment  
• Assembling furniture or equipment  

• Garden/landscape installation and maintenance  
• Footpath maintenance  
• Painting and decorating  
• Clearing gutters  
• Maintaining property exterior through the different seasons 

• Adhoc warehouse and brewery operations  

Essential Requirements

• Full, clean driving license
• Attention to detail

• Takes great pride in the work they carry out
• Own vehicle (mileage will be paid at 45p per mile)
• Business insurance on their vehicle

Desirable Skills

• Previous maintenance/caretaking experience

• Knowledge of basic plumbing and electrics
• Knowledge of safety procedures and risk assessments
