What is your role at north brewing co?
I am North’s packaging lead. I run the canning line, making sure that the canned beer that’s leaving the brewery is in it’s best possible condition. Making sure all our dissolved oxygen levels are to a minimum, the carbonation is right, the perfect amount of beer is in the can, the packaging dates are printing correctly and Refold‘s lovely designs are properly applied to the cans!
How did you come to work for North?
I started off volunteering, doing a day a week for two or three months alongside my full time job, learnt more about brewing and gained experience. A full time position became available, I applied and now here I am!
What is your favourite North Brewing Co beer?
Now there’s a question! I really liked Islands in Space, that’s going back a while now; it was Double Dry Hopped Sour IPA. It was super refreshing and summery – delicious!
What was your first memorable beer experience?
Probably trying Magic Rock Brewing‘s Cannonball for the first time. I was working at Alfred Bar, it was 2012, someone handed it to me with a very certain “TRY THIS!” I was pretty blown away tasting that beer. It really opened my eyes very wide to what good beer could be.
What’s your favourite song to work to?
I’ve been listening to Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes recently, their new album is really great, very uplifting.
And lastly, where is your favourite place to go for a drink?
Definitely Brudenell Social Club! There’s always a good range of beer, always good music on and it’s got a really wide demographic. It’s a real mix, everyone always gets along, there’s a strong community feel to the place. It’s still keeping its old school roots but also keeping up with the times.
