How did you come to work for North?

AF

During my second year of university, I was in need of a part-time job to pay the bills. Fortunately, a close friend of mine let me know of a vacancy at the breweries taproom at Taverner’s Walk. After going down to the tap, sampling a few tasty beers and getting to know some of the North crew, I knew it was a company I could see myself working for and enjoying all it had to offer.

What was your first memorable beer experience?

AF

From a young age, my dad would often let me sample some of his beer at the pub, being a keen ale fan himself. As I got older, my band would often get paid in cases of red stripe as promoters wouldn’t have got enough money on the door to actually pay us. Essentially, they just cut out the middle man as this is what the money would have been spent on anyway. It wasn’t until playing a gig at the Magic Rock Brewing Magic Rock Tap taproom in Huddersfield that I was able to fully experience what craft beer actually is and have never looked back!

What have you been listening to lately?

AF

I love a wide range of music and will almost always have a speaker or my headphones playing to keep me motivated. If I need that boost, my go-to will often be either some beatdown metal or drum n’ bass. On a quieter day, I’ll often be listening to podcasts like the ‘Off Menu’ pod with James Acaster and Ed Gamble so I can laugh my way through the day.

Where is your favourite spot for a drink?

AF

There are so many bars around Leeds I can’t wait to get back to when the old Rona goes away. My go-to is often The Meanwood Brewery’s Terminus Taproom and Bottleshop, if I’m in town it will be Wapentake Leeds, The Social, or the OG North Bar. At the moment though, nothing beats taking a few cans and sitting out on the park on the few occasions we get a bit of sunshine.
